A Fusion of Fun and Food with afpop at Martinhal Resort
A great afternoon on Sunday 25 September at Martinhal Beach Resort near Sagres has been planned by afpop – it’s free and everyone is welcome. From 2-4pm there will be family beach games with a sand sculpture competition, kayaking and ball games for the whole family - supervised by Martinhal's experienced Leisure team. From 4-6pm, following a Welcome fruit cocktail, the resort's As Dunas Restaurant will be providing a special event themed around seafood. This is a unique opportunity to learn how to prepare the freshest of ingredients to make a superb cataplana. Their chefs will be ‘show-cooking’ a large seafood cataplana, talking through the process as they go. Guests can savour the result whilst also enjoying seafood canapés and a fish BBQ. Wine tasting will be presented by the renowned Quinta de Barranco Longo winery.
This is a wonderful way for afpop Members, their families and friends to meet the afpop staff in an informal setting to ask advice on various matters or to renew subscriptions and for non-Members to find out about the services provided and join the Association. There are no formal presentations but plenty to do and enjoy plus a select number of other businesses will attend, including Premier FX, to add to the fun of the day.
Children are welcome and will be able to use the playground next to the restaurant, which includes a trampoline, and there will be face-painting and other activities to keep the young ones amused. This special afternoon is being provided with the compliments of the Martinhal Resort (00351 282 240 200; e-mail res@martinhal.com) which is set in a stunning location overlooking the beach and within a protected natural park. There is a 5 star hotel, spa, choice of restaurants, gym, swimming pools, beach club, selection of family houses and many other facilities that combine to offer ‘understated luxury and genuine hospitality’.
