With the new schemes by the country’s tourism agencies focussing more on expatriates, including the “Living in Portugal.com” initiative aimed at increasing foreign investment in the country, the regional tourist board Turismo do Algarve, recognising the importance of exhibitions as a way to interact and communicate with the region’s foreign resident and business communities, will be supporting afpop’s Better Living in Portugal exhibition (BLiP) for the first time in its thirteen year history.  Turismo do Algarve also intends to be at BLiP as an exhibitor to promote the work that it is doing to raise the profile of the region as a holiday destination and a place to live.

Turismo do Algarve will promote the exhibition through its website and Facebook page and also in the regional events guide, as well as providing space on its outside promotion stands throughout the Algarve and in the Tourist Information Bureaus.

afpop is delighted to welcome Turismo do Algarve to BLiP and looks forward to helping to support the initiatives being developed to encourage tourism and promote Portugal as a destination of choice for those who are seeking to relocate.

Es ist eine weitgehend unbekannte Wissenschaft und ihre Wurzeln gehen auf die Gräueltaten des Weltkriegs zurück. 1941 nachdem durch einen Luftangriff das Unterhaus zerstört worden war, sagte Winston Churchill: „Menschen machen Gebäude, Gebäude machen Menschen“. Der Staatsmann dürfte damit den notwendigen Wiederaufbau historischer Gebäude gemeint haben, denn die Bauten sollten wieder in ihrem einstigen Glanz erstrahlen. Der Satz an sich ist jedoch auch der Leitsatz einer Philosophie, die im Nachkriegsdeutschland entwickelt wurde. Es dauerte Jahre, bis die Wissenschaft nach und nach herausfand, dass die Bewohner der neuen billigen Häusern, die sehr schnell gebaut wurden, damit die wachsende Bevölkerung untergebracht werden konnte, alle unter „außergewöhnlichen Krankheitserscheinungen“ litten.

Diese Krankheiten kämen durch die Elektroinstallationen in den neuen Häusern, behaupteten die Forscher. Durch das schnelle Bauen „konnte man nicht abwarten, bis die flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen (VOC) in den Baumaterialien“, die die Menschen so negativ beeinträchtigten, „sich wirklich verflüchtigt hatten.“

Eine kleine Gruppe Architekten und Spezialisten begann die Charakteristika dieser chemischen Verbindungen zu katalogisieren und daraus entstand ein Kompendium der Baubiologie. Es handelt sich dabei um eine Liste von Empfehlungen für Ruhezonen – Orte, wo der menschliche Körper empfindlicher auf äußere Einflüsse reagiert und an denen er seine meiste Zeit verbringt.

Die Baubiologie wurde 1987 in den USA eingeführt. Heute gibt es ein offiziell anerkanntes internationales Institut, das zwei verschiedene Zertifikate ausstellt. Erstaunlicherweise sind diese Zertifikate noch nicht weltweit anerkannt. Einige Vogehensweisen der Baubiologie widersprechen internationalen, für die Baubranche geltenden Gesetzen. Es wird behauptet, dass die Versicherungsgesellschaften, die Materialfabrikanten und die Chemieindustrie hinter der Lobby stehen, die dafür sorgt, dass nicht sehr gesunde Vorgehensweisen immer noch legal sind.

Die afpop veranstaltet zwei Kochkurse am 30. April in Faro und am 7. Mai in Portimão und lädt dazu Mitglieder als auch Nicht-Mitglieder ein. Nachfolgend die englische Pressemitteilung.

Following the successful cookery course held at the Portugal Tourist Board's Catering and Hotel Management College in Faro at the end of November afpop announces 2 further dates for additional courses that have been arranged with the College. The first will be held in Faro on Tuesday 30 April and the second at the College in Portimão on Tuesday 7 May.

Both courses will start at 08.30 with a visit to the market to purchase ingredients, then on to the College for a presentation about the course and advice on cooking techniques before starting the food preparation and cooking.

Suggestions for the starters are: Scampi with tartar sauce and a shot of lemon grass; Monkfish kebab with white butter sauce; Razor clams with aneth foam.

For the main course the suggestions are: Octopus casserole with seafood; Pork tenderloin confit with citrus.

The dessert is: Carob tart with honey.

Wie schon in der Vergangenheit finden auch in 2013 insgesamt 3 Steuerseminare im Januar und Februar 2013 statt, die von der afpop in Zusammenarbeit mit euroFINESCO veranstaltet werden. Nachfolgend finden sie die englische Presse Erklärung:

For the 17th consecutive year afpop has arranged for euroFINESCO to present a series of IRS Tax Seminars to provide the information that residents in Portugal and people moving to Portugal need to know about their obligations for presenting their Tax Declarations to the Finanças.  The seminar subject will include the latest information about personal allowances, how and when to submit the annual Declaration and penalties for false declarations and late submissions.

The presenters from euroFINESCO will give impartial advice about all matters to do with individual taxation and will answer questions of general interest in open forum.  They will also be available to give more specific advice on individual cases after the group session has ended.  Where advice requires euroFINESCO staff to undertake enquiries on behalf of an individual, this would be done on a professional basis outside of the seminar.  But where they are able to offer advice about an individual or unusual circumstance, they are generally happy to do so at the seminar.
